Timesheet Calculator
Add flexible work entries for a custom period and total the hours, minutes, and decimal hours.
How to use the timesheet calculator
Add one row for each work session. Dates are optional, so the calculator works for project logs, freelance work, contractor hours, and irregular schedules. Enter start and end times, add an unpaid break if needed, and use Add row for more entries.
How timesheet hours are calculated
Each completed row uses the elapsed time between start and end, then subtracts the unpaid break. The summary adds the valid rows without rounding their minutes first.
Worked time = shift duration - unpaid break
How unpaid breaks are handled
Enter the total unpaid break for that work session. A break equal to the shift duration gives zero worked time; a longer break is flagged for correction.
Overnight shifts
If the end time is earlier than the start time, it is treated as the following day. For example, 10:00 PM to 6:00 AM with a 30-minute break is 7h 30m.
Decimal hours
Decimal hours divide worked minutes by 60. For example, 8h 30m is 8.50 decimal hours, not 8.30. Use the Decimal Hours Calculator when you only need a conversion.
Worked example
Two rows can total a custom period: 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM with a 60-minute break gives 8h, and 9:00 AM to 5:30 PM with a 30-minute break gives another 8h. The total is 16h 00m, or 16.00 decimal hours.
Frequently asked questions
How is this different from a time card calculator?
This tool accepts flexible rows and custom periods. Use the Time Card Calculator for a standard Monday through Sunday weekly time card.
Can I enter more than one session on the same date?
Yes. Add another row and use the same date. Each row is calculated separately and included in the total.
Can I calculate one quick shift instead?
Use the Work Hours Calculator when you only need one shift with an optional unpaid break.
Are my timesheet entries uploaded?
Calculations, copying, and CSV creation happen in your browser. Analytics receives only coarse calculator events, not dates, times, breaks, results, or personal information.
