How to use the hourly to salary calculator

Enter your hourly rate, then review the default assumptions of 40 hours per week and 52 weeks per year. Edit either assumption when your schedule differs. The calculator updates each pay estimate in your browser.

Hourly to salary formula

Annual salary = hourly rate x hours per week x weeks per year

Weekly pay is the hourly rate multiplied by hours per week. Biweekly pay doubles weekly pay. Monthly pay divides the annual estimate by 12.

How hours per week affect annual pay

More hours per week increase every estimate. For example, $25 per hour at 40 hours per week produces $1,000 in weekly pay before other adjustments.

How weeks per year affect salary estimates

Weeks per year is an explicit assumption. A value of 50 can represent unpaid time away from work, while 52 represents a full year of weekly estimates. The calculator does not assume paid time off.

Worked examples

At $25 per hour for 40 hours each week and 52 weeks per year, weekly pay is $1,000, biweekly pay is $2,000, monthly pay is about $4,333.33, and annual salary is $52,000.

At $18.50 per hour for 35 hours each week and 50 weeks per year, weekly pay is $647.50 and annual salary is $32,375. Monthly pay is about $2,697.92.
